During my time at Westcliff High School for Boys, I was able to accommodate my journalistic ambitions alongside academic subjects. This saw me revive the History department magazine, the Westcliff Historian, as Editor-in-Chief, as well as assist as Deputy Editor for the Westcliff Economist. While I did not write directly in these magazines, I edited the articles and designed the magazine format. (Please note the Westcliff Historian was contributed to by pupils in years 7-9 and so articles are not written to an especially high level, despite my best efforts.) Apart from school magazines, I interviewed my headmaster, Michael Skelly, for our local newspaper, the Southend Echo.
