I have long had a passion for journalism, with my first article published by Practical Boat Owner when I was 15 - this was the article which saw me place runner up in the YJA Young Journalist of the Year 2024. However, it was a period of work experience at Agence France-Presse (AFP) in May 2025 which turbo-charged that ambition.

At AFP, I found the whole process of producing quality copy with reliable sourcing to tight deadlines incredibly exciting, especially when reporting on politics. A day with AFP political correspondent Peter Hutchison was especially eye-opening, learning the ways of Lobby journalists; seeing the inside of Parliament and Burma Road especially crystallised my ambitions to join the industry.

With my AFP experience confirming journalism was the career for me, I continued to write articles, with multiple since published in national magazines including Yachting Monthly and a follow-up article in Practical Boat Owner. I also diversified the topics of my journalism, joining both Essex Scouts' and Essex International Jamboree's (EIJ) respective media teams.

This has led to coverage of Scouting events in Essex as well as multiple contributions to EIJ's newsletter. Alongside my more formal journalism, I have kept a blog of my sailing adventures aboard my trailer-sailer Victoria since 2022 on Instagram and Facebook - @victoriatheboat.

Outside of my journalism, I am a keen sailor on both Victoria and in racing dinghies, where I compete on a national level. I am also involved in Scouting as a leader at Scouts and Explorers, as well as my aforementioned media roles. I simply enjoy being outside, having adventures!

In terms of education, I recently left Westcliff High School for Boys with A-level grades of ABB, and am looking forward to studying History/Politics at Glasgow University in 2027 after a gap year beginning September 2026.
