I have been involved in Scouts since I was 6, and, having turned 18, I am now a Scout and Explorer leader. I have been able to develop my journalistic skills through my involvement in Scout media teams, namely Essex Scouts media team and Essex International Jamboree media team. I have covered events, written articles for newsletters, and interviewed notable individuals for these roles, which has allowed me to hone a variety of skills. While covering events in Scouts, I have gradually increased my multimedia skills as an aspiring journalist through the use of professional cameras.

While EIJ2028 might feel like a way away, the Jamboree spirit was awoken for Ex+Ra Jam, a special event aimed at giving a taste of volunteering at EIJ to Explorers, Rangers and Young Leaders. The camp saw an array of exciting activities, new friends made, and an overall sense of excitement for 2028. read more

At EIJ, there is really a role for everyone. Positions on-site vary from involvement with the subcamps or programme teams, to those behind-the-scenes in welfare, media, security, catering, health and safety, information, and more. We are working hard to ensure roles are flexible so volunteers can try something new and have a great Jamboree as well! read more

It’s been two weeks, and we’re still recovering from a fantastic weekend at Skreens Park, where we all made MegaCamp 2025 one to remember! The rain couldn’t dampen our spirits, and we sent 1600 Cubs’ home on Sunday afternoon thoroughly worn out but full of memories they’ll cherish for years to come. read more
